Project Description:

Addition and mixing in of Phosphates to existing ground to reduce the pH range from 10-11 to 6-7.

Existing Ground Conditions:

The development was located on the site of a cement plant and as a result the ground had a high alkali content. The developer asked Envirosoil to reduce the pH levels to near neutral.

Product:

Subsoil Material was treated in-situ and ex-situ by mixing phosphates into the material at the appropriate dose.
The pH values of the original materials were provided by the Client. On completion Envirosoil carried out verification testing and the results output were in the range 6 to 7.

Benefits Accrued as a direct result of the incorporation of Envirosoil Products in the Works:
  • Reduction in lorry movements disposing and importing materials.

  • Elimination of the dig and dump of industrial non-hazardous wastes.

  • Estimated Cost Savings in the region of £30 per cubic m which in this context equated to 66%.

  • Envirosoil’s extensive pH testing confirmed effectiveness of treatment.

  • Reduction in risks to Health and Safety of General Public particularly as a result of the elimination of unnecessary delivery traffic passing through a large busy residential development.
